About the Role
You will join the Ground Test team, part of the Flight Test Center at AIRBUS Helicopters Germany. This team is responsible for development, certification, and qualification testing activities on aircraft on the ground. Our scope includes electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), avionics and vehicle mission systems, vibrations, and acoustics.
Our primary objective is to ensure system maturity by acting as the bridge between avionic/vehicle rigs and flight tests. We achieve this by optimizing integration and test sequences in close collaboration with design offices, simulation teams, rigs, flight-test crews, and prototype shops. Ultimately, we demonstrate compliance with regulations, specifications, and certification/qualification requirements to ensure our aircraft are certified.
Your location will be at our Donauwörth site, where helicopters are developed from initial concept to airworthy product, complete with an on-site test airfield.
Your Tasks and Responsibilities
- Organize, prepare, and execute ground test activities for various helicopters within the AIRBUS Helicopters fleet (development and certification).
- Manage interfaces with Chief Engineering/Project, Prototype Shop, Design department, or Helicopter Test Coordinator/Test Squad Leader.
- Lead ground test activities with a primary focus on EMC, and additionally on vibration and acoustic tests for both civil and military platforms.
- Analyze and validate test data, providing immediate debriefings and reports before flight tests commence.
- Author technical reports and manage subsequent problem analysis.
- Support aircraft troubleshooting efforts and provide essential testing expertise.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements in new systems, functions, testing tools, and equipment.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Engineering degree in mechatronics, electrical engineering, communications engineering, or a related technical degree (e.g., completed technical vocational training and Technikerschule).
- Ability to undergo a security screening (Sicherheitsüberprüfung), minimum Ü2.
- A minimum of 5–10 years of professional experience in a technically relevant area such as electrical or communications engineering, design, development, or a similar field.
- Strong interest or experience in avionic systems, radios, test, or simulation tools is advantageous.
- Demonstrated innovative thinking, tenacity, adaptability, flexibility, and teamwork skills.
- Very good analytical and excellent communication skills.
- High resilience and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, daily changing environment.
