About the Role
Airbus Helicopters is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for its Helicopter Maintenance Design team within the Maintenance and Ground Operations department. This role is crucial for supporting the development department and ensuring the smooth operation of helicopter maintenance programs.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for a range of operational and technical activities, including:
- Helicopter Prototype Maintenance: Accountable for Design Office prototype maintenance instructions, analyzing and validating prototype Maintenance Technical Notes, and organizing their updates. Ensuring all documentation adheres to the BlueSky policy and acting as a liaison between the Design Office, Prototype Flight Crew, and Prototype Shop.
- In-Service Major Incidents: Contributing to incident/accident investigations linked to maintenance, supporting major incident treatment, and analyzing maintenance procedures. Organizing maintenance validation tests and contributing to the Aviation & Safety roadmap.
- Analysis and Design Influence: Performing maintainability analysis for accessibility and feasibility, conducting ergonomic and human factors analysis to reduce maintenance errors and risks, and influencing system design to ensure compliance with maintenance policies. Proposing alternative design solutions to improve maintenance operations and reduce human error risks.
- Procedure Development and Demonstration: Contributing to the development and demonstration of maintenance procedures for helicopter validation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Presenting to internal stakeholders, external authorities, and customers.
- Project Management: Overseeing project aspects including cost, time, quality, budget, planning, and risk identification/mitigation.
- Cross-Departmental Interaction: Collaborating with various departments including the Design Office, Prototype Shop, Service & Support, and Quality organizations.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering degree, or certified aircraft engineer with 5-10 years of experience.
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Dynamic, organized, and accountable with a proactive approach to achieving objectives.
- Experience in helicopter systems and maintenance.
- Proficiency or understanding of maintainability and ergonomic human factors analysis (potentially using CATIA or Virtual Reality).
- Essential basic knowledge of CATIA V5.
- Appreciated knowledge of ergonomics.
- Fluent English is essential for international collaboration.
