Role Description: Electronics Technician – Weapons
The Electronics Technician – Weapons role is vital for providing comprehensive technical support across the lifecycle of weapons-related systems and equipment. This includes installation, integration, testing, maintenance, and sustainment. You will be responsible for hands-on maintenance and fault-finding, supporting system implementation and acceptance testing, and ensuring all equipment adheres to required performance, safety, and reliability standards.
Collaborating closely with engineering, maintenance, and customer teams, you will ensure all activities are performed in accordance with contractual requirements, technical standards, and company procedures, contributing to successful operational and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and oversee maintenance activities using approved work orders, authorised personnel, technical data, and calibrated tools and test equipment.
- Support engineering investigations, defect analysis, and related technical activities, while adhering to scheduled maintenance commitments.
- Provide field service support to Royal Australian Navy (RAN) vessels, shore establishments, and BAE Systems Australia business units.
- Perform preventative, corrective, and scheduled maintenance activities to meet program requirements.
- Identify, report, and assist in the resolution of issues related to safety, technical data, personnel, tooling, and test equipment.
- Ensure all tools, test equipment, and maintenance assets are serviceable, compliant, safe, and fit for purpose before use.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence to achieve maintenance and business objectives.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Completion of the MK45 Gun Maintainer/Operator Course (RAN EDP) is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in electronics and/or avionics system maintenance.
- Proven ability to work effectively as a collaborative team member in a maintenance environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.
- Ability to make sound decisions, prioritise tasks, and manage competing demands in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance, with eligibility for higher-level clearance.
