About the Role

We are seeking an Electromechanical Field Engineer to join our team at a Graduate / Entry Level. This role offers an attractive 9/75 working pattern, providing every other Friday off. The successful candidate will receive extensive specialist training and career development, primarily at a Royal Navy Base in Faslane, Helensburgh, with some short periods at other UK locations.

Through this specialist training, you will develop skills to:

  • Work as an integrated member of the Waterfront Team, performing preventative and corrective maintenance, and test procedures on submarines and in shore facilities.
  • Potentially participate in contractor sea trials, involving short periods at sea on board the platform.
  • Develop to deliver technical training, provide technical consultancy, and detailed reports, offering solutions to support management, the Ministry of Defence, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist the Waterfront Associate Manager and team in creating presentations and technical reports for customer and stakeholder meetings.
  • Undertake a predominantly hands-on engineering role, with possible travel within the UK and to the US for meetings, training, and engineering support.
  • Conduct tasks for the ongoing compliance of lifting equipment, requiring Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) certification.
  • Complete forklift driving courses to aid in the movement of relevant materials.

If you possess engineering acumen and a willingness to learn, we will provide the necessary specialist training and career development. We empower our employees to grow in a challenging and rewarding environment that directly supports national endeavours.

The successful candidate must achieve the appropriate level (DV) of security clearance. This role also requires passing the equivalent of a Submarine Medical and SMERAS training (including a 2m jump into water and a 50m swim at a bespoke facility).

Required skills, qualifications and experience

  • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or a similar subject with an Electromechanical bias, or a minimum of a HNC with commercial experience in a hands-on Electromechanical role.
  • A hands-on, structured, and thorough approach to problem-solving, with a pro-active attitude towards addressing emergent challenges.
  • The ability to take ownership of delegated tasks and drive them to successful completion within agreed deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to function effectively as part of a team.
  • An understanding of the importance of adhering to applicable documentation in a highly prescriptive environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software Suite.
