// Role Specification
About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Tech Lead in the PSL IM Integration Platforms team at Airbus Helicopters in Albacete, Spain. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining standard templates for error handling, logging, and security. You will define development best practices for real-time REST APIs, asynchronous event-driven messages (e.g., Solace, TIBCO EMS), and scheduled batch file transfers (e.g., Qlik Talend) platforms. You will collaborate closely with the team's Architect and all Product Managers.
The Department: Integration Platform Team
The Integration Platform Team is responsible for designing, building, and monitoring secure API and middleware connections. Our mission is to synchronize data, automate workflows, and link disparate legacy and cloud systems. We select and update integration patterns defined by our architect to meet specific application use cases and evolving requirements. The team manages the creation and maintenance of secure API connections, middleware orchestrations, real-time data streaming architectures, and high-performance file transfer solutions.
Your Challenges
- Technical Leadership: Own the technical roadmap for our integration ecosystem. Design highly resilient, scalable, and secure development patterns including Event-Driven architecture, Sync/Async APIs, and batch processing.
- Code Quality & Best Practices: Lead by example by writing clean, production-ready code for core platform components, conducting rigorous code reviews, and establishing engineering best practices.
- Developer Advocacy: Treat internal developers as your primary customers. Drive the adoption of standard schemas, self-service APIs, and provide robust documentation to maximize developer velocity.
- Observability & Resilience: Ensure the platform is highly reliable by building out distributed tracing, advanced monitoring, and automated self-healing mechanisms to minimize blast radius and Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR).
- Mentorship & Growth: Actively coach, mentor, and develop a dedicated team of integration engineers.
Skills and Qualifications
- Master's degree level (or equivalent) in Information Technology or a related field.
- Knowledge of integration paradigms, enterprise service patterns, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience in designing and managing enterprise-grade API gateways and service meshes.
- Strong communication abilities, with the capacity to translate technical concepts into business value and collaborate empathetically with other engineering teams.
- A strong desire to learn new technologies and integration patterns.
- An analytical mindset with proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for code and logic flow.
