About the Role

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is seeking a Certifying Staff Quality Management Inspector to join our team in Sterling, VA. You will be integral to our Product Assurance and Regulations team, focusing on inspection plans, drawings, and specifications. This role is crucial for ensuring the highest quality and safety standards in aircraft building and servicing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Material Inspection: Inspect a variety of finished products using aerospace knowledge to ensure conformance with FAA/EASA Part 21 specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform first article inspections on aerospace components and GSE tools.
  • Maintain material batch and manufacturer traceability information.
  • Review, analyze, and approve aerospace articles maintained under FAA/EASA Part 145 regulations or those with special certification processes.
  • Perform EASA Part-21 inspection procedures and issue EASA Form 1’s on all outgoing NEW Material, adhering to Airbus quality policies and SAP inspection plans.
  • Accept responsibility for a rotating 24-hour “On-Call” shift schedule.
  • Issue Discrepancy Reports and Unserviceable Tags on non-conforming material.
  • Monitor and follow up on storage conditions for all Spares material (new and used).
  • Assist in resolving customer complaints concerning Proprietary Parts and Supplier quality issues.
  • Ensure the integrity of the quality system, understanding the legal and liability implications of signing airworthiness certificates and documents.

Records Traceability

  • Maintain material batch and manufacturer traceability information.
  • Document and record non-conformance process issues concerning business operations.

Quality Representative

  • Represent the Quality Management Department in internal meetings, working committees, and modification programs.
  • Assist team members and cross-functional partners with quality management criteria questions and issues.

Additional Duties

  • Interface with Airbus Material Logistics and Suppliers (SATAIR Hamburg, Germany) to report, investigate, and resolve material non-conformances and quality issues.
  • Perform inspections at customer facilities and satellite locations.
  • Interface with SAP Key User regarding electronic data processing functions and systems support for Quality Management.

Qualifications

  • A&P (Airframe and Power Plant) license or Military Maintenance Certification (or its equivalent) is required.
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience with knowledge of aircraft operations, systems, and practices.
  • Familiarization with aerospace quality control and quality assurance systems.
  • Knowledge of aerospace design techniques, tools, and principles. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics, and ICA operating procedures.
  • Experience in Quality Management Analysis, including conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes.
  • Team working mindset.

Physical Requirements

This is a 100% on-site position requiring specific physical capabilities including vision, hearing, speaking, operating standard office and electronic equipment, carrying, lifting, pushing/pulling, sitting, squatting/kneeling, standing, walking, and travel at short notice. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required for shop floor visits.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year. Actual compensation will vary based on individual skills, experience, and other relevant factors. Bonuses are subject to performance criteria.
