This is a fantastic opportunity to take the lead of the group responsible for the performance assessment of our weapon system solutions.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Weapon System Algorithms & Performance (WSAP) Head of Department, you will be responsible for leading and managing the group of engineers focused on assessing the performance of our weapon systems. The team leverages complex models and high-performance computing environments to analyse weapon system behaviour under various conditions, influencing both the design and usage of our products.

This role is ideal for someone looking to lead a team and cultivate a key capability that is instrumental to the success of our weapon systems. The team currently consists of approximately 12 engineers working across multiple projects, with a steadily increasing demand for their services, indicating a need for team growth in the short term.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Ability to lead a group of specialist engineers with diverse experience levels, fostering a high-performing, enduring, and inclusive capability.
  • Skill in developing a compelling vision for the capability, encompassing future developments.
  • Proficiency in management skills, including Recruitment, Staff Development, Knowledge Management, Capacity Planning, and Objective Setting.
  • Knowledge and experience of the system engineering lifecycle.
  • Capacity to provide pragmatic technical leadership on emergent topics, bids, and other initiatives.
  • Aptitude for building effective and enduring stakeholder interfaces with project customers and other engineering functions.
