Join Airbus Defence & Space! The Connected Intelligence (CI) business unit provides secure, high-speed, multimedia communication solutions globally, leveraging its leadership in civil and military satellite communications (SATCOM).

CI is seeking a Free Space Laser Network Architect (M/F) proficient in laser communication technologies and network implementation, including conventional IP networks, point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and mesh configurations across various environments (space, air, land, sea).

You will be part of an engineering team focused on designing and developing future defence communication systems, utilizing emerging technologies like laser, quantum, and programmable networks (SDN) for secure communications over satellite and 5G.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct continuous technological watch in collaboration with internal teams and equipment manufacturers.
  • Support pre-sales activities by providing technical solutions and educating internal teams and clients.
  • Develop models for solutions or proofs of concept.
  • Contribute to customer solution design, including specifying laser segments and interfacing with other system components.
  • Define necessary evolutions for Airbus Defence & Space components and identify potential new components for development.
  • Maintain all technical documentation for proposed solutions.
  • Provide support and expertise to design and system IVQ teams.

Profile:

  • Engineering degree (or equivalent) in computer networks with a specialization in Laser and Optoelectronic optical systems.
  • Experience in complex network environments (telecom operators, military networks, large enterprise WANs, or OIVs).
  • Proven ability to design and implement technical solutions for clients.
  • Knowledge of laser transmission challenges and classic IP networks.
  • Understanding of complex systems engineering principles.
  • Autonomous, innovative, and able to work in multidisciplinary teams with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Negotiation level in French and advanced English.
