Airframe Structural Design Engineer - Military Program

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Airframe Structural Design Engineer to join the Military Derivatives Team (Air Power) at Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe (Madrid). You will be part of a brand-new team working on a challenging and upcoming military program focused on launching and executing ambitious military aircraft derivatives projects. The team operates in a collaborative, multicultural, and multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop structural aircraft components, assemblies, installations, and design solutions for A/C Derivatives programs using Catia V5, CSG Full3D, and modern design processes.
  • Establish design principles, Key Characteristics Design, interfaces, frontiers, interface points, materials, and detailed manufacturing process definitions.
  • Actively participate in concurrent engineering processes with industrial and production teams, maintaining a customer-oriented approach throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with other Engineering Design offices (stress, analysis, loads, systems installation, armament, materials & processes, aerodynamics, DMU/CAD) to refine interfaces.
  • Manage and coordinate internal team members and external subcontracting companies.
  • Provide technical support to various internal and external stakeholders including supply chain, quality, purchasing, manufacturing engineering, production, airworthiness, certification, and qualification.

Skills and Experience:

  • Education: Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering degree, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience: Proven experience in Airframe Structural Design, applying metallic and composite technologies to major components (Empennage, Fuselage, Wing, Weapons Bay, Doors, Mechanisms, or Military Systems).
  • Technical Knowledge: Structural design, pre-sizing knowledge, configuration management, materials and manufacturing processes, modern CAD/DMU tools (Catia V5, CSG Full3D).
  • Languages: Good level of English and Spanish (both written and spoken).
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, proactive attitude, high team-play spirit, and ability to manage internal people as well as external suppliers.
  • Desirable: French language proficiency.
