About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an Aircraft Performance Engineer at Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe (Madrid). You will be an integral part of the Aircraft Performance Team within the Flight Physics Centre of Competence (CoC), a vital German-Spanish organization responsible for flight physics deliverables across all fixed-wing aircraft programs. This role is crucial in addressing current and future air power challenges through digitalization, standardization, simplification, and operational excellence.

Reporting directly to the Head of Aircraft Performance, you will be accountable for aircraft performance deliverables for all Airbus Defence and Space (AD&S) fixed-wing programs, providing essential support throughout the design phases and into in-service operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Aircraft Performance Activities: Be accountable for performance deliverables that support current and future programs, R&D/T projects, certification processes, and direct negotiations with certification authorities.
  • Support Design & Aircraft Evaluation: Contribute to the design phase of future programs and derivatives, and evaluate the performance impact of changes to aircraft and engine configurations.
  • Provide Commercial & Operational Support: Conduct performance studies for sales campaigns, RFPs, and customer queries. Support flight operations through tools, documentation, computerized operating data, and in-service technical support.
  • Analyze Flight Data & Strategic Roadmaps: Assist in flight data analysis for development, certification, training, and incident investigations. Implement roadmaps for tool harmonization, data management, and digitalization.
  • Ensure Strategy Implementation & Quality: Deliver high-quality technical dossiers on time, on cost, and on quality (OTOCOQ). Drive technology roadmaps and expand the service portfolio.
  • Foster Continuous Improvement & Collaboration: Contribute to team synergies, continuous process improvements, and maintain strong cross-functional communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Skills and Experience

  • Education: Minimum Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Aircraft Performance (development, flight test, and certification).
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, collaboration, conflict management, problem-solving, and organizational skills. High customer focus, owner mentality, and the ability to think strategically while executing methodically under pressure.
  • Languages: Advanced level in English (written and spoken). Fluency in German or Spanish is a plus.
  • Technical Knowledge: Expertise in flight data analysis, aircraft & engine performance evaluation, certification processes, and digital tools for flight operations.
  • Valuable / Nice to have: Passion for continuous improvement, willingness to adapt to dynamic environments, and willingness to travel as required.
