Role Overview
Rheinmetall Electronics UK Ltd. is seeking a Transition Project Manager to lead the integration of the legacy Tactical Engagement System (TES) and Combined Arms Virtual Simulation (CAVS) into the enhanced Army Collective Training Service (ACTS). This permanent, full-time position based in Bristol is crucial for ensuring a safe, timely, and cost-effective transition.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering all transition activities for the REUK Ground Tactical Engagement System (GTES) and CAVS, from mobilization through Initial Operating Capability (IOC) to Full Operating Capability (FOC). This involves maintaining support for Army collective training while achieving project milestones.
Project Delivery
- Develop and manage integrated CAVS and GTES plans, schedules, deliverables, and transition strategies aligned with ACTS and Army milestones.
- Coordinate delivery through IOC and FOC, monitor performance, and implement recovery actions as needed.
- Integrate engineering, logistics, training, commercial, and operational workstreams.
- Produce project reports, dashboards, and governance updates.
- Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate with OMNIA, DE&S/NAD, and wider programme stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as REUK’s primary point of contact for CAVS and GTES delivery.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with Army stakeholders, OEMs, partners, and ACTS teams.
- Lead project meetings, reviews, and workshops.
- Communicate progress, risks, issues, and dependencies clearly.
- Ensure customer requirements are incorporated into delivery and acceptance planning.
Risk, Budget & Resources
- Manage risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, and opportunities (RAIDO), including mitigation and escalation strategies.
- Manage resources, budgets, expenditure, and forecasts against agreed plans.
- Coordinate personnel, equipment, procurement, and supporting resources.
- Monitor supplier and contractor performance against contractual requirements.
Technical Delivery
- Coordinate technical implementation with engineering teams and OEMs.
- Ensure solutions align with ACTS requirements, architecture, and the Platform Approach.
- Oversee integration, testing, verification, validation, and operational readiness.
- Support technical reviews, design assurance, and configuration management.
- Coordinate trials, demonstrations, user acceptance testing, and transition activities.
Compliance & Assurance
- Ensure compliance with OMNIA/MOD policies, contracts, legislation, and programme governance.
- Embed safety, security, quality, and information assurance requirements.
- Maintain appropriate project documentation and audit trails.
- Support Service Acceptance Reviews and other assurance activities.
- Promote quality, continuous improvement, and professional standards throughout delivery.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Skills
- Strong organizational and team management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Understanding of technical development processes, including technical Stage Gates.
- Experience managing complex systems through in-service, transition, and handover phases, including cross-functional stakeholder coordination.
- Proactive and self-motivated attitude.
Qualifications and Experience
- Formal Project Management, Operations Management, or Leadership/Management qualification, or equivalent project/capability/in-service management experience (e.g., APM, PRINCE2, ILM, CMI).
- Experience in a highly regulated and technical sector, ideally managing complex capabilities through transition and in-service phases.
- Familiarity with UK defence and procurement processes/standards is desirable.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain Security Clearance.
