About the Role
As a Technical Author at QinetiQ's Ashford site, you will be instrumental in creating a variety of technical documentation for QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS). You'll work with brilliant minds and cutting-edge defence technology, empowering and protecting lives through precise and comprehensive documentation.
Your Responsibilities
- Prepare a range of technical documentation including illustrated parts catalogues, maintenance manuals, operating manuals, and training materials for electrical and mechanical systems.
- Provide documentation delivery, adhering to priorities set by the Technical Publications Manager.
- Prepare presentation material and support the Training Material Developer.
- Generate original graphics, including photographs and CAD images, for use in technical publications.
- Offer general documentation support to various departments and projects.
- Work closely with the Field Services Team to create conformity and procedural documents for a wide customer base.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of QTS products.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience in technical publications, ideally within an engineering environment.
- Understanding of CAD systems and the ability to manipulate CAD models for documentation.
- Well-structured and documented work methods, with the ability to develop user-focused documentation using lateral thinking.
- Experience in delivering documentation within tight timescales.
- Creative, pragmatic, and self-driven with the ability to work unsupervised.
Essential Qualifications
- An Aeronautical, Mechanical, or Electronic Engineering qualification.
