Subcontract Lead
Rheinmetall Electronics UK Ltd. in Bristol is seeking a permanent, full-time Subcontract Lead to join the OMNIA Training initiative. This is a mission-driven role focused on transforming the British Army’s training system.
OMNIA Training is a consortium of innovative UK defence training organisations, primed by Raytheon UK, with partners including Rheinmetall, Capita, Skyral, and Cervus. Rheinmetall Electronics UK (REUK) is responsible for the Training Delivery aspect of the contract, and this role is fundamental to its success within the Rheinmetall Programme team.
As the Subcontract Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing all subcontract and supply chain aspects of the CTTP programme delivery on behalf of REUK. This involves managing the entire supply chain lifecycle for REUK’s subcontracted portions and fostering robust relationships with the supply chain to achieve cost, schedule, and performance targets.
Responsibilities & Tasks
- Prepare and issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or Requests for Quotations (RFQs).
- Evaluate subcontractor proposals for technical, cost, and schedule compliance.
- Lead negotiations regarding contracts (using customer flow-down as appropriate), price, and schedule.
- Monitor subcontractor delivery performance against agreed monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Resolve complex problems within the supply chain.
- Drive improvements in processes, systems, and products to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Review, monitor, and communicate subcontractor financial stability, identifying risks and areas for further analysis.
- Approve subcontractor invoices.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Manage supply chain Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs).
- Coach team members on supply chain considerations.
- Ensure exports are managed appropriately in line with End User Certificates and ITAR/TAA regulations.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Advanced knowledge of subcontract management, supplier engagement, and contract execution.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate independently and influence across disciplines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working in a complex defence environment.
- Proficiency in supplier relationship and performance management.
- MCIPS and/or Project Management qualifications are desirable.
- Experience dealing with export obligations.
