About the Role
As a Solution Architect, you will be central to one of the UK’s most significant defence infrastructure programmes. Your role will involve shaping technical solutions that support the maintenance of our submarine fleet, which is critical to national security. This is a unique opportunity to work within a complex organisation, collaborating with government clients, programme partners, and design teams to deliver innovative, secure, and scalable solutions.
You will be part of an inclusive architectural team within our Digital Solutions business unit, contributing to a portfolio of medium to enterprise-scale projects. Key Responsibilities
- Scope functional and non-functional requirements and translate them into high-level solution designs.
- Define system components, integration points, and data flows using modern technologies and platforms.
- Present and communicate solution designs to stakeholders through workshops, proposals, and visual storyboarding.
- Lead technical delivery, resolving complex issues, managing risks, and working with software partners to achieve successful deployment.
- Ensure solutions align with architectural strategies and standards, selecting appropriate technologies and vendors to meet programme needs.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience in technical architecture and solution design using tools like Sparx EA and frameworks such as ArchiMate.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with and manage stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong understanding of security principles and governance.
- Demonstrated success in designing and delivering complex systems integration solutions.
Desirable Experience
- Background in regulated industries such as defence, aerospace, nuclear, or finance.
- Experience in integrating enterprise-level systems.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications in technical architecture and solution design, such as BCS Practitioner Certificate in Enterprise and Solutions Architecture.
- Additional certifications in security or enterprise systems are advantageous.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national and able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
Working Arrangements
This role is full-time and permanent, offering hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
