Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Join BAE Systems as a Senior Infrastructure Engineer and play a vital role in supporting, developing, and delivering IT services. You will be instrumental in resolving infrastructure support issues, maintaining, managing, and optimizing the overall performance and availability of our IT infrastructure. This role focuses on bridging the gap between infrastructure and software development for our internal engineering business sectors, driving efficiency through high levels of automation. While technology delivery is central, understanding how we enable the business and ensure service availability is equally important.
Core Duties:
- Supporting the organisation’s IT infrastructure across Windows and Linux platforms.
- Designing, deploying, and maintaining servers, storage, networking, and security systems.
- Installing, configuring, and deploying IT hardware in line with infrastructure hosting requirements.
- Investigating and diagnosing issues by gathering information from physical and digital sources, reviewing platform or assembly defects, and identifying all contributing factors.
- Administering a virtualised production environment using industry-standard tools.
Essential Skills:
- Proven Wintel systems administration experience (Patching, Active Directory, PowerShell scripting, DNS, DHCP, Windows Server 2016-2025).
- Proficient in VMware and Horizon (vCenter/ESXi, vSAN) – Installing, patching, maintenance.
- Detailed understanding of network architecture, with a focus on Palo Alto firewall and network security technologies.
- Understanding and applying cyber security methodologies.
- Installing, configuring, and supporting network components.
- Administering On Premise platforms, including Citrix and thin client technologies.
