About the Role
As a Senior Cryptography Engineer at QinetiQ's Malvern site, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of defence technology. You will apply your expertise in Crypt-Key and technical leadership to address customer mission challenges through research, consultancy, engineering delivery, and strategic guidance across multidisciplinary teams.
In this role, you will work across various technical disciplines to develop and analyze integrated, innovative security solutions. Your focus will be on solving customer problems within the cryptosecurity domain, engaging regularly with customers and stakeholders to ensure high-quality outputs and smooth delivery.
Your Responsibilities:
- Technically lead multidisciplinary teams on large or complex bids and projects within the cryptosecurity domain.
- Engage regularly with customers and stakeholders to support delivery, shape strategy, and identify future opportunities.
- Interpret customer requirements, translating them into user, system, and security requirements for complex crypto systems in a mission context.
- Understand cryptographic algorithms, their functions, limitations, and how they integrate into secure protocols.
- Advise on the effective employment of High-grade crypto and key management strategies to achieve desired outcomes.
- Apply an adversarial mindset and support the development of this mindset in others.
Essential Experience:
- Previous experience in Crypt-Key, cryptography, key management, or secure systems/product engineering.
- Proven ability to lead teams on large or complex engineering programmes or technical consultancy projects, including mentoring junior colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to propose and design complex cryptographic solutions to meet stringent security requirements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Deep understanding of cybersecurity concepts, threats, vulnerabilities, and assurance.
Essential Qualifications:
- Degree level education or equivalent experience.

Location and Working Hours:
This role is based at our Malvern site, operating 37 hours per week, 5 days on-site. Travel to customer sites will be expected.
