Security Guard

The Role
This Security Guard position offers a role that is truly out of the ordinary. You will provide a professional security service, acting as a key gateway to restricted areas across Devonport. Your responsibilities will be essential in maintaining site security, supporting operational excellence, and ensuring strict compliance with Ministry of Defence security requirements. Every day presents unique challenges, responsibility, and the opportunity to make a significant impact in a highly regulated and mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Control access to secure facilities and verify personnel, visitors, and contractors.
- Respond to emergencies, including medical incidents, fire alarms, and security-related events.
- Collaborate effectively with security colleagues, site personnel, and Ministry of Defence stakeholders to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Conduct scheduled and random patrols across designated areas, both on foot and by vehicle.
- Report suspicious activity and security incidents in accordance with established procedures.
This role is based at Devonport and operates on an average working week of 35 hours, covering a rotating shift pattern.
Essential Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in delivering excellent customer service while upholding security standards.
- Proven ability to make sound decisions and utilize initiative in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in building effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Ability to work flexible shift patterns, including nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
Qualifications:
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Security Industry Authority (SIA) Licence.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many positions within Babcock are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
