The Role
As a Programme Manager in our UK Defence function, you will be a key member of the Mission Rehearsal team, holding full responsibility and accountability for the delivery of the Programme vision. You will shape and structure programmes, encompassing integrated planning, budget and cost control, risk and issue management, stakeholder engagement, commercial management, and quality management.
Responsibilities
- Ensure resource capacity planning is in place, manage and co-ordinate dependencies to ensure issues are resolved early and ensure the programme benefits are identified and fully understood.
- Work closely with the Portfolio Office to ensure programme controls are in place and accurate and timely performance information is available.
- Proactively identify and assess risks at programme level, plan and implement responses to those risks and respond to issues that affect the programme.
- Evaluate the performance of projects within the programme to understand the status of the RAG using performance reporting.
- Engage, influence and collaborate with all stakeholders (internal, including Finance, Commercial, People, Enterprise Services, Portfolio Office, Technical & Supply Chain and external), ensuring on-going commitment.
- Lead pre and post contract discussions to shape project scope and collaboratively work with the Commercial function to understand QinetiQ's contractual rights and obligations.
Essential Experience
- Recognised expert in the job area, typically with 10 years of working within project teams leading programmes.
- Applies detailed/in-depth knowledge of programme management, understanding the full project lifecycle.
- Extensive experience of using project management tools such as Microsoft Project and SAP.
Essential Qualifications
- APM PMQ, PMI PgMP, or AIPM CPPD.
Location and Working Hours
This role is based at our Bristol or Boscombe Down sites, working 37 hours per week. A minimum average site attendance of three days per week is required, with specific attendance on Tuesdays at Boscombe Down and Wednesdays at Bristol.

Boscombe Down: A unique operational site featuring the longest military runway in the UK, focusing on testing, evaluation, and support services for aviation and aerospace systems. It plays a vital role in the UK’s aviation defence, contributing to the development, testing, and airworthiness of military aircraft.
Bristol: The QinetiQ facility in Bristol houses a diverse team of engineers, scientists, and technical professionals focused on defence and technology innovation, bringing expertise to various projects.

Applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance as a minimum.
