About the Role

As a Mechanical Fitter based at Coulport, near Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute, you will play a crucial part in maintaining essential mechanical systems and infrastructure that support critical defence operations. You'll be joining a highly skilled Estates Management team, ensuring facilities remain safe, reliable, and operational. What You'll Do
As a Mechanical Fitter, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical systems and equipment.
- Diagnosing faults, identifying defects, and implementing effective engineering solutions.
- Maintaining critical infrastructure in line with technical standards, safety requirements, and operational procedures.
- Supporting continuous improvement activities to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
- Assisting with team activities and providing guidance to apprentices where appropriate.
This is a full-time position, working 36 hours per week, based on site at Coulport.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience working with mechanical systems and equipment within an industrial, engineering, or maintenance environment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, maintenance documentation, and technical specifications.
- Experience in fault finding, defect diagnosis, and repair of mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of risk assessments, COSHH requirements, and safe systems of work.
- Ability to work effectively within health and safety legislation and established operational procedures.
Qualifications
- Recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
Security Clearance
