We are seeking an Installation CAD Engineer to join our team at our Portsmouth site. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology alongside brilliant minds.
Your Responsibilities
As an Installation CAD Engineer, you will primarily be based within the Shore Integration Facility (SIF) and National Maritime Systems Centre (NMSC) at Portsdown Technology Park (PTP), Portsmouth. Your core responsibility will be to produce Installation Guidance Packages (IGPs) that guide installation teams in fitting equipment into our facilities. Working within a dedicated Design team, you will support the installation and deinstallation of equipment in the SIF & NMSC, reporting to the Control Systems and Electrical Engineer Team Lead.
- Collaborate with project managers to understand customer requirements and develop integration plans through the creation and review of IGPs.
- Liaise with Electrical and Mechanical Fitting teams to gather design requirements.
- Produce comprehensive CAD drawings and other essential installation documentation.
- Generate 2D CAD drawings to facilitate equipment installation.
- Create Electrical & Mechanical drawings including, but not limited to, room layouts, cable routes, wiring diagrams, cable data sheets, and mechanical schematics.
- Adhere to the IGP Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for tracking process progress.
Skills and Experience Required
We are looking for candidates with strong analytical and investigative skills to translate basic requirements into detailed Installation Guidance Packages. Proficiency in creating 2D CAD drawings is essential. You should possess electrical knowledge or competency and have experience within the Maritime sector, or similar industries such as defence, aviation, Oil & Gas, or a military background. While not essential, proficiency in AutoCAD and DraftSight software is desirable.
Qualifications
A background with an Electrical/Mechanical bias is preferred. Proficiency in AutoCAD and DraftSight software is required, along with experience using SolidWorks.
Location and Working Hours
This role is based at our Portsmouth site, requiring 37 hours per week with a minimum of five days attendance on-site per week. Flexible working arrangements and compressed hours (9-day fortnight) are available.
Security Clearance
Please note that applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance as a minimum.
