Human Factors Engineer - Undergraduate Placement 2027
The future military environment is increasingly dynamic, complex, and challenging. As a Human Factors Engineer on this placement, you will apply User Centred Design and Human Factors Integration principles to effectively identify and resolve human-related risks, issues, and opportunities throughout the product lifecycle. The Human Factors Team's objective is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our products, alongside the health, safety, and comfort of our operators.
This 1-year placement, starting in September 2027, offers a unique opportunity to apply your university learning to real-world projects and cutting-edge technologies. You will develop a deep understanding of how individuals interact with complex equipment and systems from physical, cognitive, and physiological perspectives. This will involve conducting research tasks and identifying new technologies that will shape the future use of military equipment.
There is potential for you to get "hands on" with equipment and work directly with military users. While passion to learn and integrity are key, on-the-job training and guidance will be provided to support your development.
Examples of day-to-day activities include:
- Taking a Human Centred Design approach to the development of complex systems.
- Supporting the planning and conduct of User Experience research.
Perform well during your placement, and you could secure a graduate role before your final year.
