Field Service Engineer – Electrical/Automation Engineer

The Field Service Engineer will act as an Ambassador for the company, demonstrating recognised technical expertise. Your primary responsibilities will include performing preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, such as replacement, upgrades, and additional works for all Rolls‑Royce Solutions UK supplied systems. You will also be responsible for Service activities, including the installation, commissioning, and testing of new products.

What you will be doing:

• Demonstrate compliance and understanding/appreciation of all relevant Health and Safety legislation applicable to the role.
• Carry out Installation and Commissioning of Switchboards, Power Management & Automation Systems on Vessels.
• Carry out Commissioning, Service and Repair of IPMS/AMS, Propulsion and Power Systems to ensure that all products and systems are ready for operation.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement, the transfer of best practices, and adherence to processes and procedures.
• Provide emergency on-call coverage as part of the Service Engineers’ call-out rota.
• Compile Technical Reports to a high standard.
• Make judgements on technical problems with moderate scope and complexity.
• Support other service and sales activities as directed, e.g., attending meetings with other department representatives.
• Be responsible for stock control of parts and equipment in your care.
• Assist with duties in the workshop.
• Undertake technical training as required.
• Demonstrate the behavioural competencies required for this level.

Applicant Requirements:

• Proactive and enthusiastic individual with good communication skills, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
• Technically competent in Marine Systems.
• Capable of using both traditional and PC-based diagnostics.
• Must possess electrical competencies and basic mechanical skills.
• Should have experience with Switchboards & Automation, including maintenance and diagnostics.
• Required to travel extensively within the UK & ROI and may be required to spend time overseas internationally.
• Understand “Contractors On Deployed Operations” (CONDO) working arrangements.
• The job is physically demanding.

Position Qualifications:

• Appropriate qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation & Maintenance, or a similar relevant qualification.
• 2-years Industry Experience in a similar role.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety best practices.
• Successfully attain full MoD Security Clearance.
• GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.

Preferred Requirements:

• Industry experience of 440/690v Switchboards, installation, maintenance, and fault finding.
• Naval/Marine experience.
• Disciplined individual capable of delivering and communicating the high standards expected of a blue-chip company.
• Full and Clean Driving Licence, Current Passport Holder for travel.
• Must be fluent in both written and spoken English.
• Must be proficient in all applications of MS Office.
