About the Role
Rheinmetall Electronics UK Ltd. is recruiting an experienced Facilities Security professional for a six-month consultancy contractor assignment. The focus of this role is to assess, improve, and strengthen the organisation's facilities security capability. Rather than handling day-to-day operational security administration, this position will offer expert guidance and independent assessment of current facilities security arrangements. You will identify opportunities to enhance compliance, governance, and operational effectiveness, and lead the implementation of new security processes.
Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will analyse current security policies, procedures, governance, and working practices. You will then develop practical improvement plans aligned with UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) security requirements and recognised best practices. Your previous MOD facilities security experience will be crucial in maturing the organisation's security capability, ensuring readiness for current and future defence programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Security Review & Assessment: Conduct a comprehensive review of current facilities security arrangements, assess existing policies, procedures, and governance against MOD and Government security requirements, identify compliance gaps, operational risks, and opportunities for improvement, and benchmark current practices against defence industry best practice.
- Security Improvement: Develop practical recommendations to enhance facilities security maturity, produce prioritised improvement roadmaps with clear ownership and deliverables, review and recommend enhancements for existing security documentation, and lead the implementation of agreed improvements across the business.
- MOD Compliance: Provide subject matter expertise on MOD Facility Security requirements, advise on compliance with relevant MOD security policies, GovS 007, Facility Security Clearance requirements, and associated guidance, support preparation for internal and external security assurance activities, and review compliance evidence, recommending improvements.
- Business Consulting: Act as a trusted security advisor to business leaders and project teams, work collaboratively with Facilities, IT, HR, Commercial, Engineering, and Operations to embed effective security controls, facilitate workshops to improve security awareness and ownership, and provide pragmatic advice balancing operational delivery with security compliance.
- Process Improvement: Analyse current facilities security management processes, recommend improvements to governance, reporting, and assurance activities, review security metrics and propose meaningful performance measures, and improve documentation, records management, and evidence management processes.
- Knowledge Transfer: Coach and mentor internal teams to enhance long-term security capability, provide guidance on emerging MOD security expectations, support the development of sustainable facilities security processes beyond the consultancy period, and produce clear handover documentation and recommendations for ongoing management.
