About the Role
As a Flight Test Engineer Instructor at QinetiQ, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of defence aviation. You will leverage your extensive expertise to deliver high-quality instruction to a global cohort of aspiring flight test professionals at our MOD Boscombe Down site. This is an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry.
What You'll Do
Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve delivering and developing a comprehensive range of long and short course ground instruction, as well as providing in-flight instructional delivery. You will be instrumental in assessing and grading ETPS student flying and technical reports, offering mentoring and constructive debriefing to enhance flight safety and accelerate learning. A key part of your role will be contributing to the ongoing course development and modernization of the ETPS course syllabi, driving continuous improvement within the team of highly qualified Flight Test Engineer Instructors, Test Pilot instructors, and Theoretical Knowledge Instructors.
Essential Experience
- Broad and extensive experience within the flight test community.
- Ability to teach complex subject material clearly, both on the ground and in the air, ensuring understanding for students of all nationalities.
- Sound knowledge of aircraft performance, systems, stability & control, and their testing.
- Skilled use of typical software for data analysis and reporting in the flight test environment.
- Experience of the UK MoD’s Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT).
Essential Qualifications
- Graduate Flight Test Engineer from one of the 4 UK MoD-recognised Test Pilot Schools (ETPS, USNTPS, USAFTPS or EPNER) or equivalent standard.
- An Engineering or Science degree coupled with at least 3 years of active experience as a LFTE or equivalent on significant modern flight test programmes.
- Medically fit to gain a CAA Class 1 Medical.
