About the Role

Airbus Helicopters is seeking a Materials Laboratory Technician (f/h) to join the Design Office - Material Lab (ETXLL) at our Paris-Le Bourget site in Dugny, France. Become part of a team shaping the future of aeronautics and contributing to life-saving missions through our helicopters.

Airbus Helicopters established its nerve center for blade activities at Paris-Le Bourget in 2017, encompassing design, production, and repair of helicopter blades, aiming to be the industry benchmark for composite blades and dynamic assemblies.

You will experience a unique professional journey at the heart of helicopter manufacturing.

Your Future Missions

As part of our team, you will engage in various missions focused on material characterization and quality control, contributing to the activities of the Design Office / Material Lab (ETXLL).

The laboratory is accredited to ISO17025 and is part of a transnational department with labs in Marignane and Donauwoerth. Our team collaborates closely with experts and engineers from neighboring materials departments, covering composite materials, metallic materials, surface treatments, and painting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabrication of test specimens for all materials within the laboratory.
  • Execution of tests and analyses: mechanical tests on composite and metallic materials (tensile, shear, compression, peel) and/or physico-chemical tests on composite materials (DSC, TGA, TMA, DMA), with orientation based on candidate experience.
  • Writing test reports and quality control documentation.
  • Management of equipment: responsibility, maintenance, and ensuring availability.
  • Cross-functional communication and exchange with other teams across different sites (France, Germany).

Your Profile

Education & Professional Experience:

  • Hold a BTS (or equivalent) in materials, physics, or physical measurements, with at least 3 years of professional experience in materials or a laboratory setting.

Technical Expertise:

  • Solid skills in materials science (metals, polymers, composites, elastomers, surface treatments, painting) and characterization techniques (tensile, flexural, compression, shear).
  • Strong knowledge of composite materials (formulations, environment) and their assembly, molding, machining, and cutting techniques.
  • Ability to read technical documents and proficiency in organizational and quality control capabilities.

Languages:

  • Fluent French and operational level in English (for transnational collaboration).

Soft Skills:

  • Rigor, quality orientation, teamwork, autonomy, and adaptability.
