Electrical Design Engineer

Rolls-Royce is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the E24S group, specifically within the NautIQ Solutions team in Bristol. This role is crucial for the delivery and design of electrical power systems, with a focus on Low Voltage Power Distribution Systems and Equipment for Naval applications. You will be part of a global team operating in the UK and US, contributing to cutting-edge projects for naval and commercial marine customers.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Designing and optimising bespoke electrical power systems to meet stringent customer requirements.
• Developing and verifying Power Distribution Systems and Equipment to meet specialist, highly demanding technical specifications.
• Liaising with a spectrum of multidisciplinary engineers to ensure a holistic design process.
• Presenting technical information and design specifications during design review processes.
• Supporting the manufacture and testing of electrical products through to delivery.
• Representing the Project/Company to customers, suppliers, and operators, including occasional travel to various sites.
• Authoring essential technical documentation, reports, schedules, and schematics.

• A degree level education or equivalent in an electrical field, with demonstrable experience in electrical design techniques.
• Knowledge of both AC and DC electrical power distribution systems, their components, and sub-assemblies.
• The ability to proactively identify issues, independently apply problem-solving techniques, and manage resolutions while considering all functional, regulatory, and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to clearly articulate ideas, plans, and priorities to engineers from other disciplines.
• The capability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team to meet project deadlines.

Desirable Qualities:

• A sound working knowledge of marine and electrical standards and regulations (e.g., Class Society rules, IEC61439, Def Stans).
• Professional registration as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer, or progress towards gaining professional status.
• Experience using design software such as AutoCAD Electrical for generating electrical schematics.

Security and Nationality Requirements:

To apply for this role, you must be able to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats. Rolls-Royce will support the application process if you do not currently hold this clearance.

Due to the nature of the business and the protection of certain assets, you must hold UK nationality. Any dual nationals will undergo additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencement.

Working Pattern and Location:

This is a full-time, hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the office. The working location is Bristol.
